Being Sick Sucks

Since my last post I've had what I like to call "the crud". I've barely been able to get myself to work everyday. Not quite sick enough to see a doctor but feel like you could sleep undisturbed for weeks. Sleep, that has been the problem. During the day I've dragged myself around thinking of my comfortable, warm bed. When I get home and lay my head on that soft pillow, it begins. The relentless coughing spell. This is a cough like no other. After a week and a half of this, I've coughed so hard and so much, I think I have bruised my right rib, four down.

I've done nothing with my beauty routine as it has been just an effort to come home and take care of the twins and get myself to bed. Hopefully, next week I will be back to normal and begin my new skin care regiment.

Now hot tea, honey & lemon and hopefully a visit from the sandman.

First Test

My first challenge will be to get my face glowing. Now that I'm living at the beach, I want to be sure I don't get "leather" face. I love nice tanned skin, but I don't like what the sun does to your skin.

So I have been scouring the web looking at ways to enhance & improve my daily beauty routine. I will start a 4 step processes:

1. Cleansing my face. I am dry in the winter and oily in the summer and sometimes both. As I hate to spend tons of $$$ on things that may not work I am keeping my purchase to items I can find locally. So starting Monday, I will use Purpose for my daily face wash. It is good for all face types and gets high marks for taking off makeup and dirt. In my research, I read that I should only wash my face at night (something I don't do right now - yeah, I know). This means I have to change my whole routine. I like a shower in the morning, it wakes me up gets me going, but I am changing that habit and start taking them at night. So in the morning all I need to do is splash my face with lukewarm water and apply my makeup as normal.

2. Weekly I will exfoliate. Researching different things I can across one of my favorite products - Epsom Salt. Which is really not a salt at all. I love this stuff! It is a staple in my bath. Reading up on this miracle product I found you can use it as a body/facial scrub.

3. Moisturizer is something most people with oily skin don't think to do but I love it. I especially like to use it before I put on my make up, so this will be a change when I don't use it in the morning. I found a great product that combines moisturizer and a sunblock in one, Eucerine. This will keep my face from burning and keep me from that leather face I am trying to avoid.

4. Drink more h2o. I don't drink enough of it and every single thing I have read about glowing/healthy skin says you have to hydrate.

Tomorrow starts the challenge and I can't wait to see the results!

Lost Lipstick

For some strange reason I keep losing lipstick. I buy a pretty color wear for a couple of weeks and then it is gone. It's not in my purse, the car, or my office desk. This is a strange phenomenon. Why lipstick?

So today I bought two new lip glosses. I have resorted to buying inexpensive brands.  With that said I really like the brand Rimmel. The products stay on and they update the product line often.  Great for a girl that keeps losing her stuff.

Stay Glossy in My Rose, a light pink that gives just a touch of color
Stay Glossy in All Night Long, a plum color with straight up shine

Let's see how long I can keep up with these two.

Introducing 365 Days of Health & Beauty

Welcome to 365 Days of Health & Beauty. I am dedicating a year to this subject in order to find out the best tips and see if they work.

My ultimate goal is to improve myself and live a healthier lifestyle, (one does this as they get closer to 40).

Today I went to The Black Dog Running Company to get fitted for running shoes, http://www.blackdogrunning.com/ The owner was great took his time and made recommendations on what shoe I needed.  I started the couch 2 5k program a few months ago and have completed two 5ks in the last two months. I am now hooked. My running goals are to get my running time down to 29 minutes and then work on running my first 10k.

Last week I ran my second 5k and actually came in 3 in my age group! It was great and a real motivator to keep going.

I am looking forward to writing this blog and improving my health and life.
